Mistakes to Avoid On Your Business Cards
In my last blog post I said I would go through some common mistakes most Small Business Owners make when creating Business Cards.
So here they are –
Mistake #1: Having a card that looks like all the rest.
No excuses none at all for unattractive or unprofessional-looking business cards. Printing Technologies have changed so much making it easier and more affordable than ever to design a card that will get someone’s attention and at the same time look classy, business like and make money.
Mistake #2: Having a card where people cannot readily see what you do.
Ok, Scenario ALL of you have a business card, now If I looked at it, could I tell immediately what you do, sell or what kind of business you’re in? No? Then Kiss Sales, phone calls and referrals goodbye.
I won’t go into this anymore, I think it is self explanatory
Mistake # 3: Cheap, Cheap card.
A poor quality card implies a business that will have poor quality products and services. Rather than attracting business, according to the latest studies, actually can make potential customers go elsewhere.
Don’t skimp on money when it comes to your business card. It is part of your IMAGE. You want to have good stock paper; print that doesn’t bleed from a drop of water, embossed logo, with the card feeling substantial and pleasing to the touch. A good business card shouts “I have PRIDE in my business”
Mistake #4: Oversized Cards – NO, NO, NO!
Always use of the traditional and standard 3.5 by 2-inch size business card. All business cards must fit into a wallet and cardholders. I know if I am given a card that does fit into that, I chuck it in the bin!
Mistake #5: Print that needs a Magnifying Glass to read!
So you want to cram so much on your business card and your printer says use a smaller font – DON’T DO IT! People must be able to read what is on your card easily.
Remember, so many people wear glasses! If I get a card with small print, it goes in the bin and I know I am not alone!
Good rule of thumb – Use no smaller than 8 point with the company name around 12 point.
Come back for my next blog post, where I go into a few more points about business cards. Do not have any made until you get the entire story – remember a good card means $$$s in your pocket.
